So pleased to be represented in the EAB 2020 FAIR with Central Booking Art Space by my artist book Body of Knowledge (Male and Female). Small torso-shaped books housed in Invisible Man and Woman figures draws attention to the similarities and differences in gender.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Inappropriate Bodies: Art, Design and Maternity was reviewed on Hyperallergic. I was thrilled my photograph, Ida and Tabitha #39 was selected as the image for the article. Art Historian Jennie Klein’s essay about my work, The Mother Without Child/The Child Without Mother: Miriam Schaer’s Interrogation of Maternal Ideology, Reproductive Trauma, and Death, is included in this collection of brilliant essays about the complexities around motherhood, parenting, and care giving. This past May, The Bristol Art Library, featured We Miss Her, an artist book I made specifically for the library in 2001, on Instagram Created with hankies I transfer printed as well as ran thru my ink jet printer and embroidered, the text of the book is Emily Dickinson’s poem (number 993) We Miss Her. The poem is more poignant now, given world events. The Head Librarian asked me to make a short video, talking about the book. Due to the Pandemic, all posts are a bit behind. This project and video was posted on Instagram in May 2020.
A number of artists created prints in memory of Vamp & Tramp’s Bill Stewart, contibuting to a Festschrift honoring his life and contribution to the bookarts. This Herculean undertaking was organized by Marnie Powers-Torrey. Bill was a great supporter of my work, but also a friend who would check in and cheer me on! He passed in late 2019, and is greatly missed. I selected the title for my print, Let Books Be Your Pleasure Gardens, as it was also an exhibition of artist books at Yale, and seemed the perfect tribute. Due to the Pandemic, all posts are a bit behind. This project was completed in May 2020.
LIAR'S COUTURE, my new work, will be included in Disillusionment: Perspectives Beyond. The Disillusionment Project was conceptualized and developed by Robin Holder and Marina Gutierrez. Taller Boricua graciously hosted the exhibition under the coordination of Ronnie Bellini. A video of engaging interviews with 20 of the artists is currently in production.
Holder and Gutierrez curated 24 accomplished women artists who were invited to create works about Disillusionment, whether personal, cultural, political or global. The artworks they created range from "Me Too" narratives and hurricane reflections to historical texts using media that include welded woven steel, found assemblage, paper collage, sewing and body casting.

The show opens Friday, March 9, 2018, with a reception from 6:30-9 PM, and will be on view March 9-31, 2018 at Taller Boricua in the Julia De Burgos Latino Arts Center, 1680 Lexington Ave. (E. 105 St.), New York, NY 10029. Gallery Hours: Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon-6 PM; Thursdays, 1-7 PM; and Saturdays, Noon-6 PM.
