Pictures From A Pandemic Walk

Walking is the best way to go more slowly than any other method that has ever been found. To walk, you need to start with two legs. The rest is optional. Frederic Gros, A Philosophy of Walking.

In March 2020, when the Covid-19 Pandemic hit, the world altered for everyone. Not being an essential worker, my world shut down, as did I. I barely moved. Eventually, my body let me know–in no uncertain terms–this was not a good idea.

I started to walk daily. During my walks in and around my Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope, I started to see things: urban still lives and landscapes, evidence of every day life slowly emerging, creating a new normal. I began posting the pictures on Instagram using the hashtag #picturesfromapandemicwalk (under my account @miriamschaer) Here are a sampling of some, others are on Instagram, and there are more to come. As I always do, I think this might need to be a book.
